Goa India

I sit here on the beach enjoying  a truly relaxing and wonderful Day. We play poker, eat good food and just really really really really enjoy each others company.

Scary Kas

Ok, she's actually not that scary. However during a Halloween party  they used uv lights to really bring fear into the hearts of everyone in the room.

Why do I love this shot? One because the look it priceless but mainly because it was hard to do. Bugger all lighting and a fast paced dancer usually makes for nothing but blurry useless junky shots. This one. After hours of preparation and having the camera set just right. I got lucky. Over and over again :)

Shoeing the Bee

On a hot summers afternoon with the incessant humming of thousands of bee's collecting nectar from a nearby gum tree we would often sit over beer and wonder why the Rainbow Lorikeets (equally vocal in eating the flowers) would not be ravaged by the Bees. Whilst trying to capture a shot of the birds I noticed that they would land on a branch, waltz up to a section teaming with flowers and reach town and remove a Bee. I assumed they would kill the Bee and yet after what appeared to be a bite of some kind the Bee did not drop to the ground dead or wounded but would fly around in a lazy circle and land back on another part of the tree unbothered. What initially seemed as a bite actually looked (through the camera lens) like a tender and precise clasp of their leg and quick but gentle flick of the beak to remove the bee but not hurt it. It would happen in a blink of an eye. Once discovered it was soon obvious that all the Rainbow Lorikeets were doing this. In this shot you can see the beak around the bee's back leg.

If you sit for long enough the sun will set and almost as one the Bees and Birds will all leave the tree within one or two minutes. Going from a constant humdrum noise of activity, enough to drown out a passing car, to absolute silent save only the wind through grass, trees and the sound of an aluminium can being opened with equal bird like precision.

A spring wallpaper

Today is a pretty god awful day here in Melbourne, which is rare... Normally it just rains :)

Anyway I took this shot whilst walking some time back. It makes for a nice wallpaper on your notebook, iPad or iPhone or android or whatever. Let me know what you think :)

Eye of Saurabh

On the set of Phtat Poster Nikhla Hero I sit

and watch a scene take place. Sitting in an armchair behind the two monitors the actors take their place as the director barks orders into a microphone. The only two words in English I understand are 'Rolling!' and 'Action!'.

The actors say their lines, one of them is Saurabh Shukla. You see in this scene with him and his 'goons' are blinded by a flash and spend the entire time running around not knowing where the hero is. It's 11:30 at night and they have been acting all day and still they perform take after take after take.

"One more for safety!" is called and from past experiences this means that they are three more takes away from finishing.

On every single shot, this man nailed his expression causing all of the crew to silently laugh with their shoulders shaking. After the final 'one more for safety is taken' we take a break. We chat a bit and then I take this shot..

It was a really nice day :)

I've been to cities, that never close down...

Riding in our warm shuttle bus smelling that universal smell all busses have I gaze out at the airport stretched before me. The vast splendour of concrete and asphalt I see vehicles pass outside my window unique in their design. Lined up row after row looking like some sort of car freak show. A reminder of what happened when " automotive engineers take drugs and design vehicles... So don't do it kids!" My favourite was the one that looks like a large tuning fork. The bus comes to a stop a sign that strangely enough says "Stop for planes" for a large plane was passing by and some idiot thought it wise enough for busses to give way to A380 double decker aircraft..

...I know right... The twit!

Anyway our amazing bus ride across flat roads comes to an end.. Just when I was beginning to enjoy the whole 'lean in and ride the bus like a surfboard trick' I could just feel the people who chose to sit down for the ride think to themselves "god I wish I stood up for this bus ride! I mean look at him... Oh god he is leaning in to the direction where the bus turns... He is actually leaning in!! Oh my god the bus changed from turning left to right and he leaned with it! I need to get that guys autograph!" . Standing in the stationary bus i see after a chap in a weather beaten blue cap comes down from the stairs and give the sort of thumbs up to open the bus door that could not be more dramatic if it was ground control from NASA giving the rocket the thumbs up to blast off. We exit the bus / surfboard and enter the building..

It's at this point in time I wonder to myself who will be the annoying jerk that just has to tell everyone how much he is not happy with this situation... There has to be one... What no one!? Are we going to be all zen like creatures happy with our ultimate destiny to end up back home...

" I'm trying to stay positive I really am but how can ya!?"

*large grin* ahhh perfect..
